Watching on Slow Internet
Updated
Using the Platform (Website)Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh.
If videos take a long time to load or pause frequently while playing, the issue is often related to internet speed or network conditions. The suggestions below can help improve your viewing experience.
Check Your Internet Speed
You can check your internet speed using tools such as Fast.com.
As a general guide:
• 18—25 Mbps supports Ultra HD (4K) video
• 10—18 Mbps supports HD video
• 1—10 Mbps supports SD video
If your internet speed is lower, you may need to watch videos in standard definition (SD).
Shared Wi-Fi Networks
If multiple people are using the same Wi-Fi connection, the available bandwidth may be divided. This can cause buffering.
You may try:
• Watching lessons during quieter hours
• Using a more stable home or office network
• Reducing other heavy internet usage on the network
Close Other Streaming or Downloads
Streaming music, downloading files, or uploading content at the same time can reduce available bandwidth.
To improve playback:
• Close other streaming apps or websites
• Pause large downloads or uploads
• Keep only the AMAU lesson open while studying
Restart Your Router
If you are using a home network and experiencing slow performance, restarting your router may help.
You may also contact your internet provider to check whether your equipment needs updating.
Mobile Data Limitations
If you are watching lessons using mobile data, your connection may slow down after reaching your data limit.
You may check your device settings under Network / Data Usage to see if you are close to the limit.
Possible solutions include:
• Switching to Wi-Fi
• Reducing video quality
• Downloading resources while connected to Wi-Fi
Remote or Regional Network Conditions
Students in some regions may experience slower loading times due to local network infrastructure or content delivery network (CDN) availability. In these cases, refreshing the page or trying again later may help.
Safari and iOS Playback Delay
If you are using Safari or an iOS device, there may be a short delay before playback begins.
The player buffers several short segments before starting the video, which may create a delay of a few seconds. This behaviour is normal and helps ensure smoother playback.
Tips for Studying with Slow Internet
• Reduce video quality if needed
• Study during times when the network is less busy
• Close other applications using the internet
• Keep your setup simple and focused on the lesson
A Final Note: Many of the greatest scholars studied by candlelight, on foot, with limited resources.
Today, a buffering video can feel frustrating, but it is still a doorway to knowledge that many before us never had. Every pause, every wait, every retry, if done with sincerity, is part of your worship.
Stay patient. Stay consistent. And keep walking the path, no matter the speed.
May Allah place barakah in your studies and make your pursuit of knowledge beneficial.
