Audio Not Working - Troubleshooting Guide for AMAU Students

Updated

If you cannot hear audio while watching a lesson on AMAU, the issue is usually related to device settings, browser configuration, or internet connectivity.

Follow the steps below to resolve the problem.

1. Check Your Device Volume

First, confirm that the issue is not caused by your device settings.

• Ensure your device volume is turned up and not muted.
• Check that headphones or external speakers are properly connected.
• On computers, ensure the browser tab is not muted.

Tip: Try playing another video or audio file on your device to confirm whether the issue is specific to AMAU or related to your device.

2. Check the Video Player Settings

The AMAU video player has its own audio controls.

• Ensure the volume slider in the video player is turned up.
• Check the speaker icon in the player and make sure it is not muted.
• If multiple audio tracks exist, confirm the correct one is selected.

3. Refresh or Restart the App

Sometimes, playback issues are temporary and can be resolved quickly.

Web Browser

• Refresh the page
• Clear your browser cache and cookies
• Try a different browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge)

Mobile App

• Close the app completely and reopen it
• Ensure the app is updated to the latest version
• Restart your device if necessary

Tip: On mobile devices, using Wi-Fi instead of mobile data can improve playback stability.

4. Check Headphones or External Speakers

If you are using external audio devices:

• Disconnect and reconnect the headphones or speakers
• Try a different headset or speaker to rule out hardware issues
• On computers, check the sound output settings and ensure the correct device is selected

5. Update Your Device

Outdated software can sometimes affect audio playback.

• Ensure your device operating system is up to date • Restart your device after installing updates

6. Check Your Internet Connection

An unstable connection can occasionally affect audio playback.

You can test your internet speed here:

If your connection is slow, try lowering the video quality in the player settings.

7. Advanced Troubleshooting

If the issue continues:

• Disable browser extensions that may block audio
• Free up storage space on mobile devices
• Ensure Chromecast, Smart TVs, or streaming devices are updated
